Randolph's Restaurant - 2/10

Tonight Melanie and I had dinner at Randolph's in downtown Denver. Well, we should have known to turn around when we walked in on a Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and only about 8 people were in the entire restaurant! To put it mildly we were VERY disappointed. Not only would we not go back, we'd like to make sure that no one else goes either...

So, how was the food? Well the appetizers were actually great (I had a tomato and avocado salad and Melanie had a trout pâté) it was just the main course that was so bad. I had a mushroom ravioli that wasn't bad, Melanie had a curry grouper that was just terrible. It was on a bed of scallion risotto that was about as tasteful as air! The grouper was about as bland too, and the curry sauce was terrible (fortunately it was on the side). Since the entree was to disappointing we decided to opt for Starbucks for desert instead!

Oh, and the service? Well Melanie usually complains that I over tip, well in this case she didn't complain. Not only did I not get the appetizer I ordered (which wasn't horrible since what they did bring was great) - it was just that they didn't really make a big deal that they'd gotten it wrong. They never asked if we wanted a second glass of wine (which Melanie did), and were just slow in general. Now remember there were almost as many staff members as there were guests so I can't imagine how bad they'd be on a busy night!!!

So, in short skip Randolph's at all costs! For the $80 we spent I would have rather had Taco Bell 15 times!!!
