Music
My name is Ross Carlson. I'm 34 and live in Superior, just south of Boulder. I've been playing sax for 22 years,
mostly tenor but I do also play and enjoy alto and soprano. I also play a digital rig by Yamaha
that uses a state of the art tone generator like a keyboard
but it is held and played like a soprano sax. Hard to explain but it is a very versatile instrument.

I'm looking to get together with a group on a semi-regular basis. I've played a wide variety of styles but prefer jazz/funk/groove music. The only style I won't play is Country. Some of my influences are Pink Floyd, David Sanborn, Miles Davis, Cannonball Adderly, Tuck Andreas, Arturo Sandoval, Sting, Jamiroquai, Dave Matthews Band, Phish. I can read charts/chord changes just fine but greatly prefer to improvise. I also prefer playing original music over covers, but I will play either.
I am the Director of Information Technology for a technology based venture capital firm so I am highly technically skilled. I'm not looking to gig full time, just playing for fun. Gigs would be great and I would love to do some recording as well. I'm very laid back, easy to get along with and looking for some 420 friendly guys to play with. I do take music seriously and am on time and prepared for practices or gigs. I can be reached via email at ross@jasbone.com

- Funk in C - This was a jam session recorded with some good friends. We had 8 minutes of tape left so we decided to play funk, in C. Everything was improvised, start to finish.
- Footprints - I recorded this back in college, when I was majoring in jazz. It was recorded with several close friends of mine in a simple studio.
- Maputo - This is a Dave Sanborn song from the late 80's. For this I brought a MIDI file into Garage Band and assigned instruments to the various tracks. I then recorded my alto on top of this within Garage Band.
- A Little Flutey - The flute sound is my Yamaha digital gear. The Yamaha WX7. I mixed together the simple backing track in Garage Band. I recorded this as a free form improv tune to test the sound quality of my digital gear.
