New Feature – Monitoring Album Plays

Ok, so today I got an idea and added a new feature. You can now use Jinzora to monitor plays of specific albums. This will allow each user, on a per user – per album basis, to see what media you’re interested in gets played.

So say you’re promoting your band and you’d like to know when people play your stuff. All you have to do is “monitor” it and you’re good to go. If Jinzora knows your email address you’ll know when it gets played. Enjoy!

Another great guitarist – Tal Farlow

Well I guess I’m on a guitarist kick lately, but who can blame me? Again my good friend Derek Worth turned me on to another great guitarist, Tal Farlow. Now Tal isn’t new to the scene, he’s actually had a career that’s spanned over 40 years. However for some reason I just found him, not sure how that happened.

So I wanted to share him with you. His Autumn Leaves album is my favorite, with his version of the title song, Autumn Leaves being one of my favorites. If you really like great guitar jazz make sure to check him out. He’s played with many of the greats and didn’t even start playing guitar until he was 21! Tal left us in 1998 at the age of 77.

Jinzora Add-on for Movable Type

As you may or may not have noticed there is a new little block on my site, “Now Playing”. This block ties into Jinzora (Demo Here), the web based media jukebox that I’ve been writing for over a year now. The add-on will be included in the upcoming Jinzora 1.1 and is available in the latest beta build of Jinzora 1.1 (.zip | .tar.gz)

The add-on is very easy to configure, however you’ll have to convert some of your templates to .php (make sure your server supports php before you try this) and add some code into one of your templates where you want the add-on to display. Since it’s a dynamic page you don’t have to update your site just to get the latest information to display, it will pull in real time each time the page is loaded. Jinzora tracks each file that a user plays and therefore can be tied into like this.

As this add-on is very new please post in our Support Forums and let us know about any issues you encounter. Good luck, happy listening and happy blogging!

Jinzora is the premiere open source web based media jukebox. Use Jinzora to stream your media to anywhere, demo your band, run a local web based media jukebox, impress your friends, get dates (well, that may be a stretch…)

Wonderful Guitarist – Tuck Andress

Today a great friend of mine, Derek Worth (an amazing guitarist himself) turned me on to the solo guitar work of Tuck Andress. Allmusic.com lists him as “Newage”, but I think he’s pretty much all Jazz. If you like jazz guitar at all check this out!

Tuck’s simply amazing. I’ve never heard anyone funk quite so hard on solo guitar as I have on his version of Stevie Wonder’s I Wish. It’s just plain amazing. Feel free to check out this entire album (which includes his wife Patti – who is great but pales next to Tuck) Dream care of my other creation Jinzora. Enjoy!!!

Jesse’s Chicken Enchiladas

So tonight we are making Jesse’s Chicken Enchiladas. Of course we are making them vegetarian by using the Quorn Naked Cutlets. These are Mycoprotein based but it’s amazing how much they taste like chicken. Like all things vegetarian they aren’t as good as the carnivorous versions, but they are adequate substitutes. We’ve made this many times in the past before I became vegetarian and it’s amazing how much the vegetarian version tastes like the original. I’d highly recommend this recipe, it’s very easy and quick to make (other than the 45 minutes it’s in the oven baking). It’s a very different taste thanks to the coriander, curry, and cumin in the sauce. While it’s very different it is definitely one of my favorites and I highly recommend it. Bon Appetite!!!

Super Size Me – 8.5/10

We just got finished watching Super Size Me. What did we think? Amazing. Every adult in America should watch this film. At first we said that all kids should see it, but they would just dismiss it. Really all parents should see this.

As with all great documentaries Morgan Spurlock does a great job presenting the facts of his film. It is amazingly eye opening how badly America is eating and why. While I am in now way a fan of litigation to solve our problems, it is quite clear that fast food companies carry much of the blame in the problem of obesity. As someone who recently became vegetarian I can assure everyone it will be quite a while, if ever, that I eat fast food again (which is hard anyway as a vegetarian). I think I’ll still be eating Subway was I really don’t think they count in all of this, but maybe I’m just fooling myself.

At any rate the stats that are presented are mind blowing, the production is just great, basically the entire film deserves all the kudos it’s received. Even if you don’t like documentaries you should see this film.
