Multibooting – A Step-by-step How to Guide

Everyone,

After discussing this with Apple I have decided to take this information down. Apple’s position is that this is a violation of their NDA so to respect that I have removed the information. It truly was never my intention to violate their NDA in the first place.

Thanks to everyone who submitted comments. Please do not submit any further comments or ask any further questions about this issue as I will respect the agreement I have with Apple and keep all future information confidential. Please also do not flame Apple as they were very professional.

How is this a violation of their NDA? I thought they said they would NOT prevent the installation of Windows?

  • leybonn July 27th, 2005 2:42 am

yeah i get it … very professional at unleashing their law-hounds ….

  • Detro July 27th, 2005 2:56 am

Can I have the article anyway?

  • applehater July 27th, 2005 3:04 am

    Apple are just GAY!

  • Dave Challender July 27th, 2005 3:23 am

Seems fairly petty of them to pull it under NDA fine print – it all seemed fairly innocuous to me.
OK, maybe there were a few details of the hardware itself to allow Linux driver config – but anyone with physical access to an apple dev intel machine can get that info anyway – those without it – well its one of many intel boxes so what would be the response?
Certainly I save nothing critical mentioned in terms of the OS itself. I thought it pertinent – a lot of people are looking forward to intel macs precisely due to multi boot options – currently on power pc its osx or various nix flavours, but osx, ‘nix and doze on one PC is very attractive to many people who would never have gone the apple route in the past.

Cheers to caches for letting me read this

  • Apple goes the Microsoft way July 27th, 2005 7:13 am

Well, it is always funny to see how Apple, the “professional” company, rips off others’ work (BSD) and sues (or intimidates) people left and right when they simply post information on the ‘net. It just goes to show that Apple really is one helluva rotten American corp.

So you sheep go and “respect their NDA” all you wish. You poor, poor Americans…

I will not flame Apple and I agree with the pulling the article. However, you will not see me running out to buy a intel based mac anymore than I would a ibm based mac.

I think that Apple is making a serious mistake in not allowing their OS to be used on other machines. I would be willing to spend $130 for the OS, but I do not want a seperate machine to run it on.

What a disappointment, sounded like a really interesting article.
Apple should try pulling their heads out of their backsides and listening to what their users are interested in and want.
